Location and Surrounding Area. Villa La Giara is a designer property on the southern coast of Capri, overlooking the spectacular Faraglioni rocks. From the villa, it is only a short stroll down to the exclusive Marina Piccola and is within easy walking distance of the picturesque town of Capri on the other side of the island with its celebrity-studded central piazza.
Legend has it that Ulysses was seduced by the sirens at Marina Piccola. This delightful little bay is sheltered from the wind and it's highly likely that you'll find the locals enjoying the sun here in the winter and the fresh fish restaurants are excellent. The panoramic via Krupp takes you from Marina Piccola to Capri via the Gardens of Augustus.
There is so much to see and do on Capri, a boat trip into the fabled Blue Grotto, a visit to the Emperor Tiberius' villas or the house of the Swedish physician Axel Munthe.
Although the island of Capri has long been a favourite haunt of the international jet set, it manages to retain an idyllic beauty and there are some excellent walking trails across Monte Solaro and over to the three, picture-postcard Faraglioni rocks. Monte Solaro soars almost 600 metres above sea level and there is also a chairlift from Anacapri. From the summit, you can see not only the whole island but also across to the Amalfi Coast, the city of Naples and the mountains of Calabria.
Villa La Giara is pretty much within walking distance of all the main sights of Capri; it's less than a kilometre to Marina Grande and the Piazzetta and 2 km to Villa San Michele. The ferries to Naples leave from Marina Grande and take about 45 minutes. From Naples, you are within easy reach of Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Naples International airport is a ten minute taxi ride from the port.
The Property. Villa La Giara sleeps up to 11 guests between the main house and two luxurious suites, which total more than 250 m2 and offer 1000 m2 of gardens and terraces. These gorgeous gardens and terraces have breathtaking views over Capri's most famous icon, the Fariglioni rock formations, which rise elegantly from the sea in front of the villa.
The main house offers 150 m2 of accommodation with three, sumptuous, double bedrooms and five bathrooms. There is an enormous sitting room (80 m2) with a splendid Bang & Olufsen home entertainment system, which makes an ideal musical backdrop for enjoying the amazing sea views. A fully equipped kitchen and laundry room complete the main house.
The first independent suite has a double bedroom, bathroom and corner kitchen and the second independent suite has a designer double bedroom, a single bedroom and a large bathroom.
The gardens are out of this world and include a panoramic, clifftop jacuzzi with 108° views for enjoying daytime massages and night time stargazing.
