Gorgeous villa with private swimming pool and breathtaking views across the Mediterranean Sea.
Location and Surrounding Area. Villa delle Statue is set in magnificent Mediterranean scenery less than five minutes from both the famous Capri Piazzetta and the nearest beach. Occhio Marino is an exclusive part of Capri and the villa is surrounded by 7000m2 of immaculate, terraced gardens.
There is so much to see and do on Capri; a boat trip around the island and into the fabled Blue Grotto, a visit to the Emperor Tiberius' villas or the house-museum of the Swedish physician Axel Munthe. At least one evening aperitif in the celebrity-studded central Piazzetta of Capri is an absolute must. Legend has it that Ulysses was seduced by the sirens at Marina Piccola. This delightful little bay is sheltered from the wind and it's highly likely that you'll find the locals enjoying the sun here in the winter and the fresh fish restaurants are excellent. The panoramic via Krupp takes you from Marina Piccola to Capri via the Gardens of Augustus.
Although the island of Capri has long been a favourite haunt of the international jet set, it manages to retain an idyllic beauty and there are some excellent walking trails across Monte Solaro and over to the three picture-postcard Faraglioni rocks. Monte Solaro soars almost 600 metres above sea level and there is also a chairlift from Anacapri. From the summit, you can see not only the whole island but also across to the Amalfi Coast, the city of Naples and the mountains of Calabria.
The island of Capri covers a total of only 10 km2 so most of the attractions on the island are within a reasonable walking distance or a short taxi ride away. The only large supermarket on the island is close by, as are the bus and taxi stops. The ferries to Naples leave from Marina Grande and take about 45 minutes. From Naples, you are within easy reach of Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. There are also direct ferries to Sorrento, Amalfi and Positano from Capri. Naples International airport is a ten minute taxi ride from the port.
The Property. Villa delle Statue comfortably sleeps 17 guests with the possibility of up to 21 guests with the two sofa-beds. The accommodation is distributed over four buildings: The Main Villa, The Olive Annexe, The Pine Cone Annexe and the Seagull Annexe. The property offers various panoramic terraces and plenty of shady nooks and crannies to hide yourself away with a good book and the mature gardens are filled with sweetly-scented Mediterranean flowers. The swimming pool terrace overlooks Marina Piccola and is furnished with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. At the lower end of the grounds, there is an ample vegetable garden with fruit trees and guests are invited to help themselves to the seasonal produce. The rooms in the house are decorated in clean, traditional Capri style which reflects the sunlight and creates an atmosphere of spacious comfort. Local Majolica tiles decorate the stairways and interesting works of art decorate the walls.
The Main Villa. The main villa is on two levels and sleeps up to seven guests in four bedrooms (3 double and a single with a French bed) with four private bathrooms, two of which are en suite. Two of these bedrooms have doors out onto a lovely panoramic terrace, with far-reaching views across Capri and the sea. The ground floor features delightful vaulted ceilings and offers an enormous living room with beautiful French windows out onto the terrace. The dining table can comfortably seat 12 guests. The kitchen is both large and fully-equipped, including an American fridge, microwave and dishwasher. There is also a laundry room with a washing machine and second freezer.
The Olive Annexe. The Olive Annexe has a private, furnished, panoramic terrace and is situated on the lower floor. It has a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a twin bedroom with a private bathroom. There is also the option of a single sofa bed if needed for a fifth person. There is a comfortable living room with a flat screen TV and a fully-equipped kitchen.
The Pine Cone Annexe. The Pine Cone Annexe also has a private, panoramic terrace with tables and chairs. The Annexe offers a large double bedroom and bathroom plus an extra second bathroom. There is a single sofa bed too.
The Seagull Annexe. The Seagull Annexe offers a double bedroom, two bathrooms and again, a single sofa bed.
