Location and Surrounding Area. Villa Praiano is set in a stunning cliff top location right in the centre of Praiano. It is within easy walking distance from the high-quality restaurants, local trattorias, shops and public services that the small town has to offer. The nearest beach is about a ten minute walk away and has a pretty little bar and restaurant.
Conca dei Marini is a couple of minutes up the road and is perhaps most famous for its Emerald Cave, la Grotta dello Smeraldo. This 30 metre high, karst cave was discovered in 1932 by a local fisherman and is named after the shimmering green interior light as sunlight filters through the turquoise waters of the underwater entrance. The cave can be reached either by boat or via a set of steps.
Among the countless incredible places to visit in the area, perhaps Ravello, Positano and Amalfi stand out for the first time visitor. Ravello, at 350 metres above sea level, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers both unforgettable architecture and scenic beauty. The 11th century Cathedral and Villa Cimbrone are magnificent and a summer music festival is held each in the year in the gardens of the 13th century Villa Rufolo. D.H. Lawrence wrote Lady Chatterley's Lover here and the town has been frequented over the years by the likes of Escher, Greta Garbo and Winston Churchill.
The delights of Positano and Amalfi have inspired artists, writers and lovers for centuries and the Kennedy's were regular visitors to the area in the early 1960s. The higgledy-piggledy, white-washed houses, the winding steps and sophisticated shops and restaurants all combine to create an exceptionally chic atmosphere.
The villa is only 9 km from Positano, 10 km from Amalfi, 12 km from Furore, 17 km from Ravello 17 and 40 km from Vesuvius and Pompeii with its world famous archeological site. Naples international airport is about an hour's drive away. There are also frequent boats from Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi running to the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida.
The Property. Villa Praiano sleeps up to ten guests in five, gorgeous, air-conditioned, double bedrooms. The first bedroom is just off the living room on the ground level and has air conditioning and a private bathroom. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, the first being a pass-through twin bedroom, which would be ideal for children. The other bedroom on the first floor has an en suite bathroom. Both of these rooms have lovely French doors leading out onto the furnished terrace, which features wonderful sea views. The remaining two bedrooms are on the lower floor and both have air conditioning, en suite bathrooms and French doors leading out to a spacious, furnished patio, again with stunning sea views.
The magnificent living room has air conditioning, high vaulted ceilings and double glazed French doors, which open out onto another panoramic balcony. There is plenty of space here for everyone to gather in the evenings with a glass of wine. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need for creating authentic dishes, which can be eaten either in the dining area or outside on the al fresco, dining table under the stars. There is a useful laundry area with washing machine, iron and ironing board adjacent to the kitchen.
The swimming pool is set on its own terrace and offers gorgeous sea views. The poolside garden is furnished with sun loungers and a lounge area for soaking up the summer sun. Here you can relax and enjoy the marvels of the surrounding countryside and spectacular sea views.
